just being who he is: michiana child photographer

I love meeting children for the first time. Each one is so different, so unique. What I love most about kids is that they haven’t learned yet how to fake it.

They are simply being who they’re created to be. They are being completely themselves because they don’t know any other way exists.

That’s a pretty powerful thing, when you think about it.

If they don’t feel like smiling, they won’t. If they’re tired, they don’t try to fake it and pretend otherwise. And if they’re shy, well, so be it.

I met Cyrus on his first birthday. I learned a lot about Cyrus just during our short time together. He loves to read. He goes crazy for basketballs. He is constantly on the go, walking or crawling everywhere at once. When he does sit still, he does this thing with his feet, touching his toes together which is beyond adorable. And most of all I learned that Cyrus has a grandma who adores him. And he adores her.

There they were, grandma and grandson. Just enjoying being together, loving one another, just for being who they are.

And that’s the most special thing of all.
